Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland

Both the book, Auschwitz: History, Place and People. An Academic Guide to the Camp Complex, and the website were financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland within the grant competition “Public Diplomacy 2021″.

Memorial Foundation for the Victims of Auschwitz-Birkenau

The book and website were created with the support of the Memorial Foundation for the Victims of Auschwitz-Birkenau.

Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum

The editorial work on the website and the student projects was generously supported by the Auschwitz-Birkenau Research Center, in particular Dr. Piotr Setkiewicz, Dr. Jacek Lachendro, and Teresa Wontor-Cichy. A big thank you, also, to Adelina Hetnar-Michaldo, Alicja Wójcik, and the International Center for Education about Auschwitz and the Holocaust. Thank you, as well, to Jadwiga Pinderska-Lech, for her expertise and support.

Witnessing Auschwitz & UBC

This project would not have been possible without the generous support the Witnessing Auschwitz program received from ARA (Arts Research Abroad) and UBC Go Global over the years. Thank you, also, to the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Vancouver for their continuous support.

The biggest thank you of all to Dr. Bożena Karwowska whose tireless work has been at the heart of the Witnessing Auschwitz program and all associated projects. A heartfelt thank you, also, to Marek Stankiewicz.

Special thanks to Asia Beattie for her invaluable contributions to the Witnessing Auschwitz program, the book and the website. Thank you, also, to Susan Atkey (UBC Library) for all her help and for sharing her expertise so generously.

Thank you to Charlotte Gibbs, Puloma Kaushal, Macy Richards, Lisa Rutloh, Marcie Schlick, Sidney Singh and Nina Weng for the additional work they put into this project.
